<< I looked at both my daughters B&W this morning, a rev 1 and rev 2 . Looking

at both internally and externally there are no notable differences in the

serial number, ROM version (ASP report, although I did the Apple ROM update

before the 10.3.2 install) ,machine ID, case design, etc. Manufacture dates

on the cases themselves are both 1998. The rev 1 machine was manufactured in

January 1999, and the rev 2 was manufactured in December 1999. >>

LEM web page on B&W Revs says:
"The best way to make sure you're getting a Rev. 2 motherboard is the "402"
marking on the CMD646 IDE controller chip.

To distinguish the Rev. 1 and Rev. 2 logic boards, check the number printed
on the CMD chip at location U1. On Rev. 1 boards, the number is PCI646U2. On
Rev. 2, it will read 646US-402."
