We all feel helpless when something like this happens
whether it is a Mac/PC, VCR, lawnmower, or washing
machine. My first computer class instructer
specialized in teaching much older people about
computers and would tell us about his experiences with
the "senior's" classes. He said he would often hear
them referring to themselves as "stupid".

He countered them by explaining in the class that,
"The only stupid question is the unasked question".
He went on to tell us he had found a quote
he would share with them to keep their spirts up.
Then he would joke with them and remark that, "none
of you have enought experience with this stuff yet to
be stupid".

"The "ignorant person" is one who just doesn't
know...but with a little instruction can start
doing the task correctly....

The "naive person" is one who may not have enough
understanding of the situation in front of him...so
even some instruction won't be of much help.

The "stupid person" is one who knows better...but
still errs in spite of himself."

So...the G list has lots of people of all various
experiencial backgrounds who are willing to help...and
of course it's newbies. I've found that joining this
list is one of the best moves I've made since I
decided to learn about Mac's and become PC/Mac switch.
You can still be a newbie here even if you are only
asking about a problem you haven't encountered before.

The guy was one of the best computer teachers I've
ever had and was lucky to have him when I was new and
starting out.

..just a thought..
