a dvd player will be much, much cheaper than the combination
of adapters you'd need, and probably a better image quality
because the adapters will probably degrade the image.  you
can get dvd players for as little as $50, new.

But there is the typical scenario of wanting to watch all the films in AVI, MPG format. VCD would be a natural suggestion, but most DVD players only play 1 in 10 VCD disks...

I'm gonna use a different video card which has composite and
S-video out. It's an ATI card but can't remember what it's called.
