I would like to ad to the post that as a owner of G4 DP (2 X 450) one of the MAIN difference lies in the fact that you can split the load of work/ rendering between the processor. That is what MAKE for a HUGE difference in between a single and a double processor. Other than that not much gain.

I think I read somewhere that you only get about a 20% increase with dual processors (assuming only the OS is utilizing them) vs. just have one processor. I don't have any hard and fast numbers, but I would imagine you can find some data at these sites:

<http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/>
<http://lowendmac.com/>

Without seeing the numbers, I'll opine that you would probably see a small increase in "speed", but probably not worth the switch. Now if you could find a deal on a dual 1 Ghz or 1.25....

So other than Photoshop and CAD, would I see a performance gain if I switched to this dp 800 from my current single processor 867?
