Bruce, thank you for the reply to my question and the advice. If I could bug
you again I have another question. I found only three extensions in extension
manager that relate purely to Firewire they are: Firewire Authoring Support,
Firewire Enabler, and Firewire Support. All the other Firewire extensions I
found relate specific items such as IPod or Quicktime DV. I also saw a Toast
Firewire Support extension. Am I missing any of the Firewire extensions or do
these cover it. Thank you for your help.

It can't hurt to install them...they're not loaded until they're needed. If you plan on doing any digital video work you'll need the Quicktime TV one. but those three are the biggies.
