The Sonnet G4 700, 800 and 1Ghz G4 upgrades downclock the B&W bus speed to 66Mhz. PowerLogix's G3 upgrades right up to 1Ghz run the full 100Mhz bus speed.

I agree - if you are using Apple's video software then a G4 is the only choice as, AFAIK, Apple's video codecs are optimised for Altivec.


Just a cautionary note, as you are looking for maximum system bandwidth in a video production machine. Some of the faster CPU upgrades available down-clock the B&W main bus from 100MHz to 66MHz. I'd actually appreciate it immensely if someone could let me know which ones do and which ones don't so I know where to point people in the future.
