Well I had left it over the weekend. But in the past, the first time it was in the cold (below freezing temp) in the car overnite, and the other times I put in the freezer a few hours. I know probably isn't the best for condensation and all that with the drive - and I'm no tech - but its worked, and knock on wood - I never had a problem with the particular drives after that - have never sent one back to the mfg etc. So not sure the technical reason it works - but when I freeze it - it will come up (doesn't show the dreaded "unrecognizable drive" do you want to initialize or eject) in either norton (most of the time) and about half the time diskwarrior (but once I get it mounted in norton I repair it and then I run it in diskwarrior after too).
