Kathi4/19/04 11:33 AM The first number is the refresh rate...how often it redraws the image on its screen. The refresh rate is measured in hertz (times per second) - abbreviated Hz. If the refresh rate is too slow, you get flicker (also called strobe). Regular house current alternates at 60 Hz (here in the US); if you can see the flicker in fluorescent light, a refresh rate of 60 Hz is probably too slow for you. 60 Hz is the refresh rate on compact Macs, but because the screen is only 9", most people find it acceptable. (The larger the screen, the more flicker is likely to bother you. So 70 Mz is definitely better than 60 Mz.
The second number is dot pitch. A monitor's dot pitch measures the distance between the pixels displayed onscreen. Lower is better - the closer pixels are together, the easier the monitor is to view.
