Subject: System upgrade question

I just got a very cheap (almost nothing) B&W G3. I want to transfer a hard
disk from a G3 DT to this. It contains both system folders for OS9 and
Panther.

Question is.... Can I just drop the drive into this new system and star
running or do I need to reinstall the OS's?

This could be done on OS9, but not with OSX. You need to use something like
carbon cloner or re-install.

Wrong. I have done this very swap. Aside from a few 'Special Edition' versions of the OS, released when radically new hardware gets released, such as the 10.2 version for the G5, OSX is a universal install.

Program installations will vary depending on the hardware found in the installed system, but the drivers are all there.
