I have done this very swap. Aside from a few 'Special Edition'
versions of the OS, released when radically new hardware gets released,
such as the 10.2 version for the G5, OSX is a universal install.

Program installations will vary depending on the hardware found in the
installed system, but the drivers are all there.

Thanks Bruce. I swapped a HD from a maxed out beige beast (g4 533, Radeon
etc) into a 533 Digital Audio and everything works fine, but I was unsure
if I should try a clean X install for saftey's sake.

I even did roughly the same with a G5 some months back...hooked the new system up to the old one in Firewire TDM, and used CCC to clone the G4 disk to the G5. Worked flawlessly then and ever since.
