I had the same issue on a beige G3DT.

Use XPostFacto C3.X, but set some options...

1. Set verbose Mode to on
2. Set Extra Diagnostics in Debug options
3. input device = keyboard
4. output device = vid card monitor is connect to.

Once I did this, I was able to control the boot process, and capture the
errors that were stopping Panther from installing.

XPF is your best bet, and if you're still stuck drop the developer a line at
