Yeah, I thought about that. I just figured it might be easier to keep the DVD, yank the Zip drive and put another optical in the bay. The case design for fit is what I needed advise on which you point out won't comfortably do what I intend. The SuperDrive is probably the way to go then. I already have an external FW CD writer. Any pointers on models, cost, places to buy? Thanks again for your advise James.

That case design didn't comfortably support what you're considering until the MDD (mirrored drive doors) models.

There are no electrical reasons why you couldn't use another 5 1/4 inch drive in the earlier models (B&W G3 through Quicksilver G4), but you'd have to substantially modify the drive mounting bracket, face plate and cover. It's not likely to be very attractive afterwards.

Instead of going this route, why not just replace your CD/DVD ROM drive with the 'super' drive? Or, do you have a regular need for accessing 2 optical disks at the same time?

Does anyone know if one can replace the internal Zip drive in a Sawtooth AGP G4 with something other than another Zip drive. I'm thinking a CD/DVD writer to complement the DVD drive. I'm concerned with bay space and any power voltage differences that may exit. If it can be done, I'd appreciate any suggestions for an internal CD/DVD writer. Thanks to all.
