I would appreciate any help anyone can give me on this. I got a system error 11 and tried to restart. The error message said to restart with the shift key down to turn extensions off. I tried that (numerous times), but kept getting the same message upon restart. Also tried restarting with a system disk in, holding down the "c" key. And, norton utility with "c" key held down. Kept getting same message.
Is this a software or hardware problem? The background is that I had downloaded a USB 2.0 driver onto my computer. I had clicked, double-clicked, whatever, to install, and it left another icon on my desktop. I clicked on that one, and that's when the trouble began. I looked at: http://www.appleerrorcodes.com/ Which brought me to: http://home.iprimus.com.au/swoz/Type_11_Errors.html (actually the first link under Type 11 errors on the first page mentioned) I can't do some of the things it suggests, like upgrading drivers, because it won't restart. We did put in new RAM a week or so ago, got it from an Ebay seller who has a 100% good feedback, and lots of it. The only other hardware we've added to the G3 is the USB card that fits into the PCI slot (I'd asked just recently about getting it to work properly with my Epson printer - something I got some differing advice for, as happens, and I still haven't yet figured out - the USB driver I'd downloaded was supposed to help that). I'm using the computer at the library, and get an hour at a time. Please "cc" answers to me, so I'll see them as soon as I get back on.
