I also found the site below, which suggests the card may be
faulty, although it's a different card.  We have a USB 2.0,
by Belkin.  The packaging says it's compatible with Mac 8.6
and above, though the Belkin site says OS X.  It's a 3-port
- 2 external, 1 internal.
