I've been "lurking" on the g-list site ...way to long, but have enjoyed reading all the posts, they have been most informative ...now I have a few questions which I am sure have been asked many time before ...so please bear with me...

I have been running a g3/266, MT with a 6 GB hard drive and a 100 Zip Drive. I have 6 GB of Vram (upgraded) and have upgraded my ram to 384MB (128 x 3). I'm currently looking to max out the ram at 768 MB (256 x 3) and I have just ordered the first of three 256 MB sticks ...later I hope to double up my hard drive ...maybe one or two 40 GB drives in addition to my current drive ...well that the plan. Also I guess I'm doing all of this both to gain some speed and also for the fun of doing it. My mac has a little age on it but it meets my day to day needs and I have been wanting to max out this unit for sometime.

Q Can a Rev 1 Motherboard with a Rev. A ROM card be upgraded to a Rev B or C ROM card with out upgrading the motherboard or should I upgrade both?

Q Which is the better a Rev B or a Rev C and why? I been told that rev b will get the job done!

Q Can a "sawtooth" g4 motherboard be mounted in a g3 MT box?

In the short term and for budget reasons I am looking at a ZIF upgrade to g3/333 with a eye on a final goal of upgrading to a g3/700 or g3/800. I have little need for a G4 at this time (yes I know my through are sinful ...but I do lov this little mac of mine) ...if i was to go for a G4 I would most likely shot the budget and end up with a current g4/1.25 or who knows maybe a small g5 .. I wish!!!

I know I should be looking in the direct of a sawtooth or maybe even the current g4/1.25 model because of the bus speed (60 v's 100) ...but then there is the budget and the cost of gas these days and well I have put this project on the back burner way to may time in the past.

thanks

ric
