The newer DVD player of Osx have inbuild support for the Radeon card (since 3.x or something). Install the player via pacifist. I have a similar machine and DVD playback works great with DVD player 4.0.

I just bought a samsung CDRW/DVD drive model SM-348B. Installed it in to the machine. I want to be able to play DVD's. Cd burning isnt really important at this point; one thing at a time. The previous drive was the OEM apple 24 x cdrom. Anyone got any ideas?
