Could also try an alternative back up utility called Psync. Everyone
raves about CCC but I usually have problems with it. It doesn't like
cloning while apps are running (not a problem with Psync). CCC usually
hangs when I clone my HD to another identical HD. I have 80 GB on my
120 GB drive. Psync doesn't hang.

Thanks for this suggestion. I put the problem on the CCC forum and got the
canned suggestion to zero the target drive and a few other ideas like making
sure the drive has its latest firmware update(!) I guess they are looking for
bugs and want the process done in the cleanest possible way.

It's cloning at home as I write. We'll see.

I did an easy and working clone in 10.2.8 once so this problem surprises me.

CCC says it works on "supported" computers. I hope the XPostFacto mods required
to run Panter on myh Beige isnt' the problem.

Meanwhile, I'll try Psynch.
Thanks,
Rich
