Hi,

This is about the startup hangs on the beige:

>>I had the same thing on a beige dt. It ended up being a

permissions problem.
I had to boot via XPostFacto in verbose mode to capture
the error.

I ended up reinstalling to get past it. I assume there
is a better solution. End of quote.

I had the same prob after using CCC and XPostFacto didn't
seem to work either (verbose mode). So I did the
reinstall from the CDs, too.

But the next time OSX (10.3.3) would hang at startup I
didn't check the "Activate L2/L3 cache" in XPostFacto and
everything went O.K.

I found out that when you use CCC you better shut down
all other apps first and have "Restore admissions before
cloning" checked in the CCC prefs. I have a working clone
on the second partition of my OSX-drive now and plan to
use CCC regularly.

I like Panther and don't want to go back to 9.2.2 but
processor-intensive tasks (like playing a DivX-movie) run
much smoother in OS 9 on the beige. I'm looking for a
cheap G4 ZIF-upgrade now ...

Success! Jrg.
