the buzz is probably from a source that isn't grounded.  on all the equipment you are
using that doesn't use a 3 pin grounded cord for power, you should manually ground the
case.  i.e. connect a wire from the metal chassis on the vcr etc. and connect it to a
ground at the outlet or to the computers' grounded metal case.  this is a common audio
problem i've had even without using a computer.  it amazes me that high end audio gear
still doesn't come with a proper grounding power cord.  grounds aren't just for safety,
they also help shielding and give leakage currents a place to go other than into the 
audio
cables, and that's probably what is happening to you.  i.e. there's a little leakage
current in the transformer or else where and it's winding up in the audio cables and
causing the hum, grounding the ungrounded audio gear should solve the problem.
