Mr. Baker/Tom:

There is bad RAM out there, regardless of origin. Most of the "generic"
name brand, properly designed RAM works just fine in a Power Mac G4
(Sawtooth in my case). The ram must also be the correct speed. If you
are having hang ups, or trouble installing, why don't you methodically
follow the troubleshooting tips that have been suggested.
Wonky, cut rate RAM can create the same problem in Windows XP or Linux.
This isn't an Apple issue; just use proper RAM from a reputable vendor.

As for incompatible video and PCI cards, please note that they do exist,
and video cards designed for PCs will probably NOT work in Macintoshes,
and can create problems with OSX. The use of cards that do not have on
board firmware for the Mac, or drivers written for OSX will not work.
Similar to what happens under Windows XP when unsupported hardware is
put into the system.

As for any comparison, please point out any article that would rate OSX
as a bad, lousy, incomplete, or unsecure operating system. You won't
find it. You will find it for Windows XP, and occasionally find it for
Linux (mostly due to driver support). The daily/multiple times a week
software updates issued by Microsoft should be some clue as to the
relative stability and security of XP vs. OSX.

Sorry you're having problems, and feel free to ask for help, but coming
here trash talking won't help you fix your system very much.
