I've seen this type of comment before. What does Panther do to make Classic
run poorly?
--- end of quote ---
I'm interested that several others have said that they have no problem with
Classic in Panther, or even better performance. I was the one who made the
original comment. When I run Classic in 10.3.3 I get repeated "not enough
memory for that operation" messages even when no classic apps are loaded. Also,
when running Photoshop 5.5, the cursor is unusably jerky when over a Photoshop
window.

I had no such problem in 10.2.8.

I guess I should look at my Classic system. Maybe it needs to be pared down
even more. Worth a try, I guess. But it is the same system I used in Jaguar.
What changed?

Another odd feature of Panther that I've not gotten to the bottom of is that Mac
files loaded on a Compact Flash card in 9 are displayed with their resource
forks in a seperate folder in Panther and so are unusable. I use CF cards like
floppy disks between work an home. This means I need to download Mac files (not
jpegs or sit files, which apparently have no resource forks) in 9.2. There was
no problem with this in Jaguar.

(My system is a Beige MT with a 466 G4, full memory, RAdeon Mac 7000 etc.
Panther is supported by Xpostfacto, of course.)
