The responses to my complaint about Classic in Panther encourage me to try to get to the bottom of it. I looked at the active extensions in the 9.2 system I use for Panther and there were far more than I recall. I removed a lot but the problems persist. I think the extensions should be at a minimum to allow Classic to boot quicker and reduce the risk of some extension conflict. (Certain extensions will actually crash the system)
To save me time, does anyone know of a definitive list of the minimum extensions needed for 9.2 used in Classic? Are the ATI extensions really needed? How about the OpenGl extensions. Back in Jaguar I had a problem with the cursor disappearing in Classic Photoshop. The solution from this list was to delete something in the X system...I can't remember what it was but maybe that would solve the problem of jerky cursor in PS in Panther. One other piece of information: When I installed Panther, I installed it over a good Jaguar system and most of my prefs survived intact. Maybe other stuff survived that shouldn't have. Any other things I should look for to delete that might be holdovers from Jag? I appreciate suggestions. Rich -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
