Since the came off munged the pictures may be munged on the SM. If that's the case you're probably SOL. Try putting the card back in the camera and see if it can read them.
The card appears as unformatted in either of 3 desktops, 2 laptops, or the camera itself.
I think the filesystem might have been munged by the laptop, it's a clean install of 9.1 with some things moved over from a more complete 9.1 system that had apparently unfixable Appletalk issues (I've quit using the location manager, hopefully that will keep it from happening again).
Anyway there might have been a PC Exchange (or File Exchange or whatever they renamed it in 9.1) issue, hopefully it just kill the upper level record when the MAc laptop tried to write the extra MAc directories.
I'll find out soon. I tried to find a linux util for repairing FAT16 or 32 file systems, I know some exist, but looking for linux SW is such a cacophony I gave up. Norton Systemworks (PC) won't even see the card, but the PhotoRescue shareware sees all the photos- whether they are intact, I can't tell unless I buy it.
You would think that I could figure something with unix-y freeware and OS X but I've not found anything that would work yet.
