Would the installation of a speedier G3 or G4 processor enable this box

The machine will run Panther if you use XPostFacto to install it. If it runs
Jaguar ok, I don't see why it would have a problem with the newer OS. I run
10.3.4 on my Beige MT which has a 466 G4 and it runs fine.

XPostFActo might be a little bit of a struggle, but follow the instuctions
carefull and it works very well.

That said, the G4 upgrades are pretty inexpensive these days ($200 for a 500mhz
G4) and it is useful for programs that use "Altivec", such as some video editors
and Photoshop. I'm not sure that osX really profits from Altivec ability, just
pure speed. I'd go for G4 since it is not so much more mooney than the G3s
unless you are looking at the very fast upgrades.

Try the newer operating systems AND a faster processor! You won't be sorry.
