Harold,
I think it was mentioned previously that the G3 will have 2 IDE busses
(bus 0 & bus 1), each allowing 2 drives (ID 0 = master, ID 1 = slave).
Normally the main HD is on J9 which is bus 0 & is set to ID 0 (master).
If a 2nd drive is added to bus 0 it gets set to slave. However, you can
set either bus 0 drive to ID 0 or 1 as long as the 2nd drive is set to
the "other ID" setting.

The cd-rom is on J10 which is bus 1 & must be set to ID 0 (master).
If a 2nd drive is added to bus 1 it is set to slave.
