that sounds like a broken/bad connection. try it again making sure the connector is screwed on well at both ends (if it comes off at both ends) and possibly some connector cleaner (radio shack). if that doesn't work, contact me off list, it may be repairable (i have the tools and skills for that, and i'm cheap or would buy it cheap). definitely try the other drivers, try removing and reinserting the card itself (though i don't think that's the problem), try deleting the monitor preferences as well to rule out a software problem. hope this helps.
