I believe you misread the ROM chip, which is the 32-pin chip on the left.

The LSI chip, on the right, is the one which states "Promise Tech., Inc. 
PDC 20262", and is constant across all card models.

PC non-RAID is FLASHable to PC non-RAID of a higher level.

PC RAID is FLASHable to PC RAID of a higher level.

Mac RAID is FLASHable to Mac RAID of a higher level.

There is NO Mac non-RAID.

FWIW, the PDC20262 chip is a four-mode chip, with the modes being as 
identified above.
