My OS X isn't booting today, or it's booting randomly. 9.22 still boots fine, but during the OS X boot, the grey apple turns to a circle and hangs.

Could a dead battery do this? My time seems to be off, but I also zapped pram, and am not sure if that screws up the time or not.

I've only changed two things today. I plugged in a usb game controller, which worked fine, and I installed the Sonnet OS X tune-up. Here's my system config:

B&W with Sonic encore G4-500 ziff
512K mem
120 gig drive
OS X 10.34

I tried to re-install from my system disk, but now it says it won't install overtop, because the version on my harddrive is higher (10.34). My cd is panther, but an earlier version.

Can anyone help out with this?

Thanks
Tom
