I've put full height drives in 86/9600 chassis front bays, very similar to the G3 tower. As surmised, just remove the drive tray above the drive for a full height space. Cooling might be an issue though - I used a big fan mounted behind the drive to blow cooling air over the drive.
The Seagate Elite fullheight drives were _very_ cheap 6 mo. ago, the 47GB UW model was selling for $20 - $30 apiece and must be cheaper now. For a server, it's hard to beat these old monsters as they were designed for continuous duty. I've currently got a total of 6 Elites in external cases on my server, 3 x 23GB + 3 x 47GB, running 24/7/365 with zero failures since I started using them several years ago. Cheap and reliable storage if you've got the space for 'em. hth, Dan K ................................. http://macdan.n3.net/ carracho://dankephoto.dhs.org:9700 hotline://dankephoto.dhs.org:9500 ................................. -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
