Many thanks to you (and Kyle Hansen) for your imput & explanation of 4.0.
I was so happy to be able to properly uninstall it with no seeming 
aftereffects.
I've had Norton 5.0 on my Imac since 1999 but all I've ever used is Disk 
Doctor but only occasionally. Long ago I turned off 'filesaver' because it caused 
considerable slow downs running in the background.  
I've got Norton Systemworks 2003 on my PC mainly because it came with NAV but 
had no problems there either although I don't use much else on it.   In any 
case, guess I've been one of the lucky ones.
