Hi all, (my first post on this list)
I just received a MDD 1.25 dual G4 (upgrading from
a PM8600/800mhz g4) and I was disappointed
to find that the drive sleds are designed for
slimmer ATA drives and my taller SCSI cheetahs
dont fit inside of them.
1) Has anyone had luck with finding drive
sleds which will be compatible with a MDD
G4 and the older style (taller) drives?
2) Has anyone tried modifying the stock sleds
to fit older (taller) drives?
I think just under the optical bays there is plenty
of room for two taller scsi drives. But
the spot just besides the g4 processor heat
sink is a bit cramped when everything is closed
up.
Id hate to HAVE to switch to ATA... Right
now, im running the scsi cable and power
through one of the open pci bays and out to a skeleton
PM8600 case (which has nice big bays for
these types of drives!)
3) Maybe I should cut-up the 8600 case and just
save the drive bay assembly and make my own
enclosure (along with fan cooling, etc)?
What do you guys think?
thanks
EBC
