AND FINALLY-

What is the CHEAPEST way to get a NEW :

Final Cut Express

Another vendor to check is SmallDog <http://www.smalldog.com>. they often have refurb or open-box specials, too. They're a sponsor of these lists, and as the parade of little plastic dogs on my G4 attest, I've been a customer for a while ;-) Never had a problem with them.

But you just gotta keep an eye out; you're one of about a bazillion people looking for the same thing, and SmallDog's refurb supply is just as volatile as Apple's.

One word of caution: If you go looking on E-bay...if it's too good to be true, it is.

High end Powerbooks and Power Macs are favorite bait for scam artists; often with some sob story about how they're in dire need of cash and are willing to sacrifice this at far below market value for a quick sale, or that they got it (or claim to be) an Apple employee, using their steep discount to make some quick cash.
