MS intelli mouse explorer

I have a beige G3 DT with 410 megs of ram. Running OS X 2.8 on a 100 gig 
hd through a SIIG ultra ATA PCI board. I'm using an MS intelli mouse 
explorer. The mouse works fine most of the time, but the cursor will 
freeze sometimes and when choosing an icon in the dock the cursor will 
jump around and land on a different icon. Any ideas?
