Hi Tom,
Is Your keyboard connected to the built in USB ports, or to the USB ports of
Your monitor? Sometimes I have the same problem (G3/350 BW -upgraded to
G4/500) since running 10.3.4. My ProKeyboard is connected to my Iiyama Pro
512 monitor. Restarting works, but  switching themonitor off and on again
works too. Strange, because it does not effect the mouse connected to the
same monitor-built-in USB hub...
