>Will a rev. 2 beige G3 support 4 hard drives ?

Sure, and it will support more if you use the SCSI bus, or an UW-SCSI
card.

Beige DT case: one floppy drive, one 5.25" 1.6" high drive (usually the
standard CD-ROM), one 3.5" 1.6" high drive (usually the optional Zip),
and one 3.5" 1" high drive, all in the top; one 3.5" 1" high drive, in
the bottom (the standard hard drive).

Beige MT case: one floppy drive which can be removed and replaced with a
5.25" 1.6" high drive (if the forward locating pin of the case's side
cover is trimmed slightly) or a 3.5" 1.6" high drive, one 5.25" 1.6" high
drive (usually the standard CD-ROM) which can be replaced with a 3.5"
1.6" high drive, one 3.5" 1" high drive (the optional Zip) which can be
replaced with a 5.25" 1.6" high drive or a 3.5" 1.6" high drive, and a
spare bay which can accommodate a 5.25" 1.5" high drive or a 3.5" 1.6"
high drive, all in the front; one 3.5" 1" high drive in the "penthouse"
(the standard hard drive).

So, the maximum drive count for the Beige G3 is: 5 for the DT (one of
which can only be the floppy and two of which can only be a 3.5" 1" high
drive); and 5 for the MT (one of which can only be a 3.5" 1" high drive,
but the others can be anything).

On the MT case, if you remove one tray, the one which usually
accommodates the Zip drive, you can place 5 1" high drives on their edges
on the very bottom tray. Four drives mounted this way would allow for
better cooling air circulation. In this case, the MT could accommodate
seven or eight drives.
