The price it's worth is what you are willing to pay. They sell for a little over a hundred bucks. The iMac 333 is far better/faster/newer than the beige G3 or 5500 even with the 400 card in it.They are somewhat limited to upgrading but keep the old Macs to play with and the iMac should work good for you.

Known issues with Tray Loading iMacs are the PAV (Power/Analogue/Video) do occasionally fail. Check it switches on first time and stays on (early symptoms include the power cutting out at random). Hard Disk might be a bit pokey for running OS X on but it's easy enough to sling a 20 or 40GB drive in it.

I would add as much RAM as you can afford

Yeh, good call.

and put Jaguar on it. You'll really like it.

I'd actually put Panther on it. It's proven to be slightly faster on all the iMac G3s I've asked people about, plus it's got less of the irritating bugs that later versions of Jaguar have.

I don't think buying any Mac is stupid........go for it !

Personally, the more I read about the iMac G3 the less I want one but I have a B&W with a G4/500 and an iMac G4/800 so I don't exactly need one :o)

If you pay a good price for it then it'll be worth a shot.
