The machine is a G3 AIO. It should be able to run OS 10.2.8 without any hacks. I can install OS 10.2 from the retail CDs. However, it will not let me update the OS beyond 10.2. Software Updater lists OS 10.2.8 as one of the updates it wants to download and install, however, the install always fails. I have tried doing the updates in stages, starting with the 10.2 to 10.2.2 update and the installer program tells me I can not install that update on this machine.
Specs: G3/233 (with a G3/300 processor from a G3B&W), 352MB RAM, 6MB VRAM, Stock 24x CD-ROM, Stock Zip 100 drive, 4 port USB PCI card. It has the Rev 2 ROM chip. Hard drive is a Western Digital 14GB: partitioned 7.74 GB for OSX, and 5.66GB for storage.
Strangely enough, I had a 14GB Maxtor drive in the machine, and had zero problems installing OS 10.2.8 However, I had some other problems with the Maxtor, and swapped it out for the WD drive.
Am I missing something?
