I've seen it stated that this card has been flashed to work in OS X, all versions including Panther 10.3.5. Kinda beats paying for the newer 29160N Mac card, if it's feasible and doable. It does not appear that a driver for OS X is available for this card. So changing theCard ROM is a solution? I've also read that it is extremely difficult to get the ROM. Sounds like you need the ROM file from the new cards and put it on the older cards.
I'm talking Mac version to Mac version. Can you do it just as easily with the PCversion?
The Adaptec 2940U2B for Mac does not work in OS X, according to the info. on the Adaptec website. (But the harder to find 2930 does).
I saw where someone had this card flashed with version 1.2 Firmware Update for use with OS X and tested running 10.3.5 Panther. Apparently the firmware allows the use of the OS X drivers.
The 2940U2B is NOT listed as one of the cards the 1.2 firmware updater will work on.

I'm not sure if this card allows LVD mode operation but If the flash works it seems like something to consider since these cards are plentiful and fairly inexpensive.
The ATTO ULD2 or ULS2 looks like one that also has everything I need as-is. ATTO no longer lists it's specs on their site so, again, I'm not sure about the LVD mode operation. The ULD3/ULS3 supports LVD the PSC cards do not.
