updater will work on.

Maybe looking in the wrong place at the Adaptec site as the firmware updates for the 2940U2B are on the Apple support site. Here's the url for the 1.2 firmware update documentation and software....

     http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60409

     I have a 2940U2B in a Sawtooth which shows up in 10.2.8 but I've
never had a drive attached to it so I have no idea whether it works or
not - I'll have to give it a try.

After a more thorough look at this Apple 1.2 firmware update for the 2940U2B, nowhere does it say that the update allows the use of OS X with the card. I would think that would be one of the highly-touted benefits of the update if that was the case. The stated purposes of this update is for other minor things. It does talk about using the update on an OS X Server G3 and the need to boot those into OS 8.6 (This is an old firmware update). I still know nothing about what it would do for me using this card on a Beige rev 1 G3 (soon to be a G4) in OS X 10.2.8.

The Adaptec version of the 1.2 update (which Apple says not to use on this card AND for which Adaptec does not list the 2940U2B as a card applicable for this update) DOES say the update allows the use of OS X.

So.... when I see someone selling a card that says,

Yes , this card has been "Flashed" with version 1.2 Firmware Update
for use with Mac OS X and tested running v10.3.5 Panther (the latest release).

It works with All versions of Mac OS X.

... I don't know whether to think the Apple 1.2 does more than it specifically says, or that the Adapted 1.2 firmware can actually successfully be flashed onto their 2940U2B card and used in OS X? (They just don't want to promote that fact).
