Is the ATTO UL2D SCSI card compatible with OS X in a G3 Blue & White?

I Hope so, I just purchased one on ebay for my Beige. My understanding was that it IS compatible.

I avoided the Adaptec 2940U2B because it was not, although someone on eBay was selling one that he tested in Panther and stated it was fully OS X compatible after he flashed it with the Apple 1.2 firmware for the card. Apple does not say this firmware makes the 2940U2B OS X compatible, which I would think would be a highly touted benefit.

Nobody on this list touched the posting or gave comment on the topic at all.

The UL2D is not on the ATTO product comparison chart but the PSC model, which is only Ultra Wide SCSI is OS X compatible as is the rest of their newer controller cards. Ultra 2 SCSI was an advancement over Ultra Wide so I don't see why ATTO would take a step backwards and not make it OS X compatible.

It took me a while to get the confusing differences straight. It would have been nice if someone could have simply told me that Ultra 2 and LVD are interchangeable terms for the same technology. Any drive or controller that is Ultra 2 SCSI or higher operates in LVD.

I posed your question to ATTO support. If no one else can tell us I'll forward the response.

The ATTO site says to upgrade to the UL3D which is not an option for me.

Before I start to spend countless hours trying to make this work has anyone
had success with UL2D and OS X.
