AFAIK USB2.0 is not supported in pre-X OSes.  My B&W has a combo
USB2.0/Firewire card and I get the message that the USB port is using too
much power and will be shut down each time I boot into 9.2.2.  It doesn't
even try to gear down to 1.1.   However, it runs quite well under Jag.  Just
make sure you're running X in order to be on the safe side when using USB2.

Question: Does the OHCI vs. EHCI standards come into play when trying to use
a USB 2.0 card with OS X?
