original 4 GB ATA drive which was able to see the card. Upon restart and
thereafter I cannot boot into 9.2.2, the system hangs at the happy mac. If I pull
the ATTO card it boots. Is

this a normal result of the update from Apple's 1.43 to ATTO's 1.64

Glen responded:
Can't speak to your beige 266, but this is similar to my experiences with a
7500 and OS 9.1. The solution for me was to flash back to an earlier version of
the firmware. I received ATTO's firmware v1.44 from their tech support and
once I re-flashed to v1.44 the problem went away. I don't know if this old
firmware works in OS X.

I have been using the card since May 2003 with OS 9 with no problems. I use
the rather expensive pink Amphenol 68 pin U2W/LVD twisted cable with an Ultra
160/LVD terminator plugged into the last connector at the end of the cable.
Don't know if the terminator is necessary. --glen (digest mode)

Just to clarify, I am still attempting start up from my older original ATA drive in 9.2.2 when the boot hangs, not from the new drive attached to the ATTO card.

Once again, all the information provided be Apple and/or ATTO on this card and the versions of firmware is annoyingly vague. At this point it seems that the 1.43 firmware is only for 8.6 - 9.1 or 9.2 and 1.64 only for OS X. I was initially under the impression that 1.64 worked for both. The issues with my new SCSI drive not being seen in 10.2.8 are probably ID/ termination related.
