I removed all of the jumpers from the drive. The only one was enable motor start leaving the only jumpers on the adapter.

*Does it remount on a restart?

Once I mount the drive from a utility it remounts if I simply select "Restart". If I shut down it does not.

*The 'C' on the end of the model name made it not recognized at Seagate's site. This isn't a former Compaq Raid drive, is it?

What I discovered searching and surfing around Seagate's site is that the 'C' indicates that it is a hot swapable drive.
I wondered if that might cause this.
Also there is nothing to indicate that it was a Compaq drive, however there is a sticky spot on the top front of the drive as if a sticker had been removed.

*If so, I had one with the same problem I struggled with for a long time before I just gave up. Compaq did something to those drives to hardwire this behavior.

Hopefully we'll discover that that isn't the case here.

Thanks,

Tom
