What does the error BAD DEFAULT mean when issuing the set-default command?

Um, that it's a bad bad default, and you need to issue the

defaults punish-defaults set swat-with-rolled-up-newspaper TRUE

command :-P

It means there's a syntax error in the default you set, perhaps it's spelled wrong or the value is out of range or is the wrong type (ie expecting an INT where you have a CHAR or vice versa) or there's a space where it expects a - or vice versa...

Very interesting. And just where would one find the listing for default? This is in reference to my install of YDL 3.0.1 as the yaboot menu will not appear after restarting from either OS9 or OSX. It appears just fine if I restart from YDL. I have to reset the PRAM to get it to work after a restart from OS9 and OSX. Someone on the YDL list suggested resetting the NVRAM as well and that is where I found the error message after the set-default command.
