Hi all,
I'm ready to buy an external Pioneer double-layer
DVD-burner for my beige MT. To watch DVDs I'm using the
hacked Apple DVD-player ver. 2.7 under OS9, but the sound
has to go through long cables to my stereo which
generates quite a lot of hum. I also feel that the D/A
converter in the computer (or is it in the DVD-player?)
could be better.
As I own a state-of-the-art D/A-converter for my stereo
I'm looking for a possibility to get a digital output for
my beige.
Are there any listmembers with a beige G3 out there
who've done this? I was looking at the Sonica Theater
USB-box but Sonica say that I need native USB which I
don't have.
I'm using a Sonnet Trio card which provides FireWire, USB
and UATA on one card. All PCI-slots are full (Radeon
7000, Formac UW-SCSI and the Trio) so I need either a
FireWire or USB-device.
Has sombody any idea what would work? It should work
under OS9 too because under OSX I get halting video when
trying to watch a DVD using VLC-player. VLC-player has
too many options which I don't understand, perhaps it
would play smoothly if I get those preferences right ...
Apple DVD-player 2.7 under OS9 is smooth.
TIA for your hints!
Jrg.
