I fired up Disk Utility and proceeded to zero the drive. The progress bar with broken bars that states it is preparing to zero the drive went on for about 6 hours before it started writing zeros.
As of now, the progress bar shows that it is about 1/10 into the process. I know, from past experience that overwriting a drive is a lengthy process, but, this has been going on for 52 hours and it's only a 2GB hard drive.
Any thoughts? BTW the machine is running 10.3.5
