TIA, > > Steve in Raleigh I always like to use the manufacturer's disk utility on a drive before I ditch it. However, I have only used them on PCs and can't say if there are Mac versions. All the PC versions run from a floppy and self-boot into DOS, check the drive and give you some sort of yay/nay response, sometimes with variables. If ProMax is the manufacturer of the external unit, you might try to find out what kind of HD is in the unit and then check the drive manufacturers site for details.
