Grasping for straws, here. I have a 5 year-old old ProMax external 40 GB Firewire drive that I used with my B&W G3 for backup--when I remembered to do it. When I made the quantum leap to my new Dual2 G5, I realized I didn't see the external drive on the G3 (10.2.8) desktop, and I still don't on the G5 (10.3.5).

DiskUtility sees the drive, but can't/won't mount it. DiskWarrior 3.0.2 sees the drive, can tell me all the specs, but says, "Directory cannot be rebuilt, the disk format is unsupported."

Is is toast? I guess I won't miss the fan noise if it is! TIA,
