definitely a firmware problem. definitely not the drive, processor, etc. also not the
monitor if it works good on other systems, otherwise the monitor or the monitor cable
may
be a problem.

if it's an all in one, it could be the power supply (or do you mean the monitor stays
on,
with an orange light but the computer is dead?). check that all the fans are running
and
clean out any dust bunnies (they can make a huge difference, even a thing film of dust
makes things run hotter, especially in the power supply).

if you have any hardware diagnostic software it's worth running, but my guess is that
it's
firmware, power supply, or cable related, or an intermittent open (not short, that's
when
power goes where it isn't supposed to, when it doesn't go it's an "open", sorry to nit
pick, it drives tech's nuts sometimes though).

does it happen after about the same time period? if you turn the machine back on does
the
problem show up faster than if it started cold? have you recently upgraded the
machine or
installed hardware?

The FBI could easily have prevented 9/11, if they had wanted to. Agents have
repeatedly been
thrawted by their supervisors while pursuing promising investigations, several of which
would have
prevented 9/11, but maybe that was the point. Evidence from respected news agencies
and
conservative publications. <http://counterpunch.org/sacks06262004.html>
