Using proxy server software on os 8 or 9, only one computer signs on the net. It then acts as an internet server for other computers on the network. Instead of configuring the other computers to dial on themselves, you configure your browser, mail and ftp software to access the ip address of the gateway computer. It then requests web pages, downloads, mail, etc. and distributes it to the other computers on your network.

We once had 4-5 macs at home online in this way, and it works surprisingly well.

The Internet connection sharing would work, but you can't have two separate computers signed into one account at the same time.

Is there a way to have 2 computers access the same dial up account at the same time without being charged extra?
